Making Your Own Connection

We can all connect with our intuition, guides, angels and loved ones who have crossed over. It’s really both as simple and as difficult as listening with your heart. Here is a list of a few things that have helped me on my journey to connect with spirit. These may be helpful or they may not. In either case do some more research on your own. There are some great books and audio listed on the resource page as well as some local stores that offer classes and books on these subjects as well.

Connecting to the spiritual world....

Guides, Angels, Intuition, God, the universe...........

First and foremost, to connect with your intuition, guides, angels or loved ones is to meditate. Meditate, meditate, meditate! I can’t stress this enough. Every source I have ever read or heard says to meditate. When I say meditate I do not mean sitting atop a mountain with your legs folded, listening to the sounds of nature, although that works too. Setting aside about 15 or 30 minutes a day, whatever is comfortable and just quieting your mind is good enough. This is not always an easy task with our busy lives' but if you want to make a commitment to connect with spirit, please take this time! Do whatever works for you, just make sure you won’t be disturbed and you are comfortable. Remember, the more consistently you meditate the easier your connection to spirit. An excellent beginning audiotape source is by John Edwards called Unleashing Your Psychic Potential. Learning to meditate sounds simple enough but it isn’t. Don’t be discouraged it you don’t get anything at first or even for months. If anything, you will at least be learning to quiet your mind and relax.
Trusting what you hear, see or feel is also a difficult task. For some reason we have a hard time trusting ourselves and dismissing certain things as "coincidence" or just our own craziness. I know that trusting myself was and still is one of the hardest parts of my journey.

Tell people. Let your friends know, let family know that you are trying to connect with your spiritual self. Don't worry what they think. In the words of Dr. Seuss, "Say what you think and be who you are. Those that mind don't matter and those that matter don't mind."

Work on yourself. In connecting with spirit things will come up in your life, especially situations or feelings that you probably know you have needed to change for a long time but didn't for whatever the reason. Make those changes if you really feel like you should. Change is sometimes painful but almost always has some sort of positive outcome if that is what you desire. If the changes feel too painful but you know they need to be made, try talking to a therapist or working things out in a more traditional way alongside connecting to spirit. You do not have to figure out life all on your own. Find help if you need it and don't be afraid to ask.
